Volunteer Opportunity
Be a Friend
Give your time and transform lives.
Volunteering as a Together We Thrive Friend is one of the most direct and impactful ways you can engage with vulnerable youth in our community. Invest time each week helping a youth transform their life.
We are looking for compassionate, flexible volunteers with strong listening skills and the ability to see beyond challenging obstacles to befriend vulnerable youth in schools and youth centers across North Texas.
For the safety of our youth, the TWT Friend volunteer position requires a background check, reference check, and necessary training through Together We Thrive and affiliated schools and youth programs. In this position, volunteers will spend approximately 1 hour per week with their assigned youth during their assigned school year.
Frequently Asked Questions

This volunteer role requires consistency and an investment of time. We ask that volunteers commit to serving 1 hour per week with their youth for an entire school year.
What types of topics might I discuss with youth in this role?
Each session is built to focus on goal-oriented topics, such as education, financial literacy and personal development. We train and equip our Friends to engage with our youth.
What is the ultimate goal for youth?
We believe that every vulnerable youth can rewrite their story. Our Friend program strives to ignite the confidence youth need to make plans for the future and begin working towards those dreams. How does volunteering as a Friend help youth?
1 in 3 youth navigate life on their own – our Friends help change that! When you volunteer as a Friend, you are helping to expand a youth’s social circle.
