First United Bank is a longtime supporter of Together We Thrive. Their mission is to help people spend life wisely, and this purpose permeates all they do.  First United Bank, wanted to do something special for a group of our youth. The First United Bank team took this idea and ran with it! Through the power of connections and hearts for helping others, the First United Bank team created a special night for our girls that included pampering, a good meal, thoughtful gifts, and a special message from a guest speaker.

The girls arrived at the First United Bank Uptown and started their night with a personalized make up class hosted by Homa Ahmed, a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. Homa demonstrated proper skin care regimens and make up application techniques, and provided products for the girls to take home and use. Each girl tried a look that they were comfortable with and they all looked beautiful from the inside out! After makeup, the girls were given the opportunity to have a professional headshot taken. These pictures will be great for their LinkedIn profiles.

Following the beauty consultation and pictures, the girls were treated to a delicious make it yourself pasta bar, provided by First United Bank. During dinner, the girls had the opportunity to engage with guest speaker, Oracle Batie-Smith. Oracle is a realtor turned motivational speaker in the North Texas area. Coming from a history of trauma and “many days of sorrow,” as she described it, Oracle uses her story of victory to motivate others. Oracle shared her personal story, asked thought provoking questions, and even delivered handmade bracelets for each of the girls.

Following dinner and dessert, First United Bank gave each girl and Life Coach a personalized gift basket filled with thoughtful, fun, and practical items. In true Tracey style, we ended the night with a dance party and a room full of smiles and laughter.

While some of the discussions with Oracle brought tears, we pray that healing happened while we were together. At the end of the night, each girl seemed to glow from the inside out, knowing there are people who consistently show up for them, care for them, believe in them and value them for who they are.  Such a special night could not have happened without the team at First United Bank who dreamed it up and made it happen. We are SO incredibly grateful for what you have done for our girls.
